In theory any Swiss citizen needing financial help following an accident or illness will be taken care of by insurance.

Costs for those who have not yet reached AVS age (62 years for women, 65 years for men) are met by disability insurance, either by SUVA or by a private insurer. This also applies to a Swiss insurance policy-holder living abroad, as long as the AVS contributions have been paid up. This right ceases once the policy-holder reaches retirement age.
For foreigners insured by SUVA who have lived in Switzerland and had their accident there, and who are returning abroad, their right to insurance continues.
In general patients will have 2 prostheses, providing for a spare in case of repairs or for reasons of hygiene. The cost of adjustments and repairs, as well as surgical or silicon socks, are met by the insurance. For patients who are past retirement age and whose costs are met by disability insurance, from 1.1.1999 the health insurance fund will meet 90% of the cost of the prosthesis, with 10% being met by the patient. In this case a medical prescription is needed. Those who already had received financial help before retirement age are exempt.

Prostheses
Usual procedure :
We come when called to take measurements or make a plaster cast in your hospital.
For femur amputations, our computer-assisted manufacturing process makes a plaster impression unnecessary. Two to five days after taking measurements, we are able to carry out the first trial. If this proves adequate, the prosthesis remains in the patient's possession to learn to begin to walk again.
In complex cases it may be necessary for the patient to stay in our establishment for adjustment of the prosthesis, to speed up the process. In this way patients are saved several days of hospitalisation.
During the trial phase we are available to make the necessary adjustments to a first device. Once the trials are over, the prosthesis finishing process is carried out within 48 hours.
Orthoses and corsets
We come when called to take measurements or make a plaster cast in your hospital.
Semi-ready-made corsets (such as "3 points") are adjusted when we visit.
An appointment is necessary.
In order to offer an appropriate level of service, we ask that you set aside half a day to one whole day.
For a new device, in order to offer you an appropriate level of service, we reserve one to two weeks for you.
